My Little Goddaughter

I may not have a daughter of my own, but now I have the next best thing!  I was so excited when Jennifer asked me to be Becca's godmother!  I love this baby girl as if she were my own, and I am really honored that I get to play a role in her life now.  For most of my life, I have loved playing the "name game" and coming up with names for my unborn babies.  As soon as the doctor told us Cooper was a boy, we were like, "Yea, we have a Cooper!"  Jake's name took a few weeks because I was having a hard time getting a full name together, but all along we had been 99% sure if we had another boy, he would be Jake.  I love making other people play this game with me too, and I remember in college making Jennifer do it one day during class.  We used to practice writing out what would become our married names and monogram too.  I remember her writing out Rebecca Marie for a girl, and I thought that was so pretty.  One day shortly before Miss Becca was born I looked up what Rebecca means, and one of the biblical meanings I found said maiden of beauty, modesty, and kindness. What a perfect name for Brandon and Jennifer's baby girl!
A couple weeks ago, we headed over for Becca's christening.  I've only seen this baby in person once when she was only a couple weeks old.  I couldn't wait to get to her again!
Of course we had to get a few pictures before we left for the christening.  It's very, very, very rare for all of us to be clean and dressed nicely all at the same time.  Normally at least one of us is dirty by the time all four of us are ready!
Cooper felt very grown up because he had a belt on :)

The sweet little family getting ready before the christening...
Baby Becca wore Brandon's great-great grandmother's christening gown.  It looked brand new and was gorgeous!

The day was beautiful and Becca was so sweet during the ceremony and slept so peacefully.  Thankfully, Cooper got to sit with Lauren (his beloved Aunt Elmo) and Andrew, so he was very good and still (at least that's what I was told).  Karl ended up having to take Jake out because he kept talking.  With two boys, you learn to be very grateful and call it a success when at least one of them behaves!  Afterwards, Jennifer and Brandon had everyone over to their home for a delicious lunch.  It was all so nice, especially when I got to hold the sleeping beauty for a little bit!  I'm looking so forward to watching this little girl grow up and become an amazing lady, just like her mama!
