This baby is so sweet. Sweeter than sugar! He is easy, happy, loves his mama, loves to nurse (and is so good at it), and is content just about wherever he is as long as he has a familiar face to look at.
He's super cute too. His precious newborn hair started falling out on its own, but it didn't take away from his good looks. It fell out even more when I finally let his hair soak with baby oil and then brushed/scrubbed off that pesky cradle cap. His new hair is lighter than his newborn hair, and his eyes are still blue. We originally thought they would turn darker, but they're just getting bluer and bluer. I think he'll end up looking like Karl too, which is fine by me! I'm a lucky lady to have three very handsome boys to look at every day!
His constant smiling and cooing definitely add to his cuteness. He's got a good personality. I noticed this month that he gets very uneasy in new situations though. He gets sensitive and nervous and usually will poke out his bottom lip in new and rowdy situations. He doesn't like things very loud (which should be interesting with Cooper as his big brother!), he startles easy, and he doesn't like to be left alone. He likes a little reassurance, which I'm more than happy to give.
I had forgotten how precious this little baby stage is. The way your baby looks at you with such trust and admiration. You are their world. Your smile brings a smile to their face. Your touch soothes any pain or fear. I appreciate that more this time than I did with Cooper. I remember when Cooper's eyes were on me all the time, and I couldn't help but kiss him constantly. I love being in that stage with Jake now. I kiss those sweet chubby cheeks all day!
Amazingly enough, I still am letting him sleeping in the pack and play by our bed at night. I love having him right next to me. The closer, the better! He takes his morning nap in his crib, but I still let him take his afternoon nap on my chest. He's starting to get restless and has trouble finding a comfortable spot. It makes me treasure those naps even more though. My little baby is growing super duper fast, so our naps together like that are probably not going to last much longer.
Speaking of my growing boy, he's a big baby! He is still in size 1 diapers but needs to be in 2s. It's just that I'm trying to finish the 1s we have. I feel kind of bad for him because they're obviously too small! He wears 3-6 month clothing but that is getting small too. He is very long and has some really chubby legs! They are so very cute though!
Some other tidbits about our Jakey: he loves his swing, loves bath time but doesn't like getting his hair washed, still doesn't like the paci, still hasn't tried a bottle for a feeding, and he's pretty predictable. He wakes up slowly in the mornings and stretches for a long time once he's awake. After some good stretches, he's bright eyed and smiley. He loves his hands and stares at them until his eyes cross. He likes to suck on his left hand and grab at things with his right hand, but every now and then he'll switch it up. He blows bubbles like crazy and has a steady stream of drool dripping off his chin most of the time. With the way he's chewing on his hands and drooling, everyone asks if I think he'll cut a tooth soon, but Cooper did the exact same thing at this age and didn't cut a tooth until he was around 7 months. Jake also loves to roll on his side. I think he could roll over if he wanted to, but he's content on his side. He still hates to be on his tummy and will push up and fuss, but then just lay down and smile. I don't think he's going to be one to over exert himself! He finds the good in things too easily!
